Hello hello! As promised, this episode we are joined by a very special guest, educator and activist Alice Cheng! In this episode we’re discussing an essay from AAPI lawyer-activist Mari Matsuda’s book, titled “We Will Not Be Used: Are Asian-Americans the Racial Bourgeoisie?”

This essay is from her book Where Is Your Body? And Other Essays on Race, Gender, and the Law. It is based on an address she gave to the Asian Law Caucus 26 years ago in April 1990 and was first published in February 1993.

Note: We ran into a few audio issues when recording this episode—nothing drastic, but we wanted to give you a heads up if our audio sounds a bit wonky at a few points. Sorry about that!

We don’t have much in terms of additional sources and resources this time since we’re taking everything from the essay and our own experiences, but Alice and her friends Kelsey Chen, Cynthia Chang, and Kelsey Ichikawa made this fantastic caard on building AAPI collective power that has a bunch of resources!
